Experiencing constraints is far from enjoyable, particularly for animals, which instinctively seek freedom and uninhibited movement. Unfortunately, a prevalent practice in Romania denies this basic need to numerous horses. In an attempt to prevent their escape, some horses have their front or hind legs restrained with chains.
In the Danube delta, veterinarian Ovidiu Rosu encountered one such horse and was compelled to take action. The sight of the wild horse, bound by thick chains that were cutting into its skin, touched Ovidiu’s heart deeply. The horse, unable to freely roam, faced severe restrictions in its movement, making any attempt to do so an arduous task.
Ovidiu knew very well that horses want nothing more than the ability to run and roam around freely. So he immediately got into action.
Equipped with his tools, Ovidiu wasted no time and swiftly went to work. Using a strategic approach, he enticed the horse forward until it eventually found comfort on the ground.
He then took out his pliers and delicately began the task at hand. With a combination of love, patience, and dedicated effort, Ovidiu persevered until he successfully liberated the desperate horse from its constraints.
It takes a while for the horse to fully grasp the magnitude of the transformation. Almost appearing perplexed by the newfound ability to move after a prolonged period of paralysis, the horse eventually comprehends its liberation.
Once the realization of freedom sets in, the horse’s joy becomes palpable, unrestrained in its expression of newfound liberty. However, the most remarkable moment unfolds when the horse, in a clear and profound gesture of gratitude, leans in gently and locks eyes with Ovidiu, acknowledging him as its hero.
