Mother Hands Her 4-Year-Old a Burger King Meal, Only to Hear: ‘Mom, I Don’t Want Ketchup’

Tiffany Floyd stopped at a Burger King drive-thru near her home in Western New York to grab a quick bite with her four-year-old daughter. What was meant to be a simple treat quickly turned into a troubling situation.

In a TikTok video, Floyd recounts the experience: “Today I went to Burger King near my house.” After handing her daughter the kid’s meal, Floyd heard her say, “Mom, I don’t want ketchup.”

Thinking the restaurant had messed up the order, Floyd took the bag back. To her shock, she found blood all over it.

Floyd told People that it wasn’t until her daughter had eaten a few French fries and taken a bite of her cheeseburger that she noticed the “ketchup” on her meal. Initially, Floyd also thought it was ketchup, but she soon realized it was blood.

She immediately contacted the fast food chain and spoke with the manager, who admitted that an employee had recently cut their hand before preparing her food.

“He was so nonchalant about it, and I was livid,” Floyd said of the manager, who offered a refund if she returned to the store. Floyd also reported the incident to her local health department, but discovered that not much could be done.

Burger King confirmed to People that they closed their Getzville location, where the incident occurred, for several days to conduct a deep cleaning and retrain employees on proper protocols.

Despite the store’s efforts to address the situation, Floyd remains “distraught.” Her daughter will need to undergo monthly bloodwork and is now fearful of finding blood in her food.

Floyd hopes her TikTok video, which has garnered over six million views, will serve as a public service announcement—not only for anyone who visited the Getzville location on July 27 but for anyone grabbing fast food without checking it first.

“Every time you get food through a drive-thru, you open the bag and start eating without even looking. I want people to check their food before they eat it.”
