John Schneider Emotionally Reflects on Memories of Late Wife

John Schneider, famed for playing Bo Duke on “Dukes of Hazzard” from 1975 to 1985, has been married three times.

His most recent marriage was to his long-time partner, Alicia Allain.

Their union initially encountered legal challenges due to John’s ongoing divorce from his second wife, Elvira “Elly” Schneider. Nevertheless, they overcame these obstacles and were married in a touching ceremony on September 25, 2019, at John Schneider Studios in Holden, Louisiana.

Reflecting on their wedding day, Alicia described it as a “sanctuary of love,” while John remarked that “happy is too small of a word” to capture his feelings.

Tragically, their time together was cut short when Alicia passed away in February 2023 at the age of 53, with her family by her side.

Following Alicia’s death, John shared his sorrow on Facebook, noting (via People), “My beautiful Smile is pain-free, living in her new body alongside Jesus.”

John had previously opened up about Alicia’s battle with breast cancer, including her diagnosis of stage 4 HER2 negative cancer.

Six months after her passing, John made his first public appearance, where he shared in a tearful July 2023 interview with the Daily Mail that Alicia’s death would inspire “remarkable, great things.” Visibly emotional, he committed to supporting others dealing with loss, although he admitted he would never fully recover from her passing.

As part of his healing journey, John turned to his music, creating a new album titled We Are Still Us in tribute to Alicia. He spoke about his process of grieving during a public appearance at the “Drinks With Dee Dee” cabaret show in Hollywood, where he discussed his plans to honor their shared love of music.

Working on the album was a bittersweet experience for John since he and Alicia often collaborated musically. Nonetheless, he was resolute in his commitment to honor her memory through his art. John proudly announced the completion of the album, which he considers his finest work to date, fittingly named We’re Still Us.

Despite the difficulty of undertaking the project without Alicia, John remains dedicated to preserving her memory. He regularly posts letters to her online, maintaining a daily ritual to feel connected to her spirit, and shared that he writes letters to Alicia every day.
