Valerie Bertinelli Reveals New Boyfriend, Two Years After Divorce Heartbreak
|Valerie Bertinelli, who previously made it clear she was off the market, has now revealed that she has found a new boyfriend. The 63-year-old actress made their relationship official on Instagram last Friday, sharing a selfie captioned with lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song “So High School,” which is rumored to be about Swift’s current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. This post comes two years after her divorce from Tom Vitale and four years after the passing of her first husband, Eddie Van Halen.
Bertinelli’s caption read, “I’ll drink what you think and I’m high from smokin’ your jokes all damn night.”
According to Entertainment Tonight, Valerie’s new partner is writer Mike Goodnough, also known as the Hoarse Whisperer.
Earlier this month, Bertinelli hinted at her new relationship during an interview with USA TODAY, saying, “I’ve met someone, and I’m really appreciative of him. It’s not like any connection I’ve ever had with a man before. I feel so fortunate to have met him, and I don’t want to give away too much. I was prepared to die really happy, surrounded by my six cats and dog.”
In an essay titled “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors…”, Mike Goodnough confirmed on his Substack this week that the reports of him dating Valerie Bertinelli were true. With a touch of humor, he revealed that he had asked “Ms. Bertinelli” in a “reporterly voice” if there was “any truth to the idea you are dating me? Would you like to comment?”
“She replied, ‘It’s true. Yes, I am. You are my partner in life,’” Goodnough wrote.
Recently, Bertinelli opened up about her past marriage to Eddie Van Halen in her new cookbook, “Indulge,” published on April 12. In it, she shared, “Ed and I never stopped loving each other, even though we got divorced.” She added, “Who knows, if not for cancer, we might have had a second wind,” but clarified that this was “wistful thinking.”
Valerie Bertinelli explained that she began following Mike Goodnough on social media in 2016 or 2017, and he reciprocated in 2018. After her divorce from Tom Vitale in 2022, the two likely started messaging each other.
Describing Goodnough as “a really super funny, incredibly talented writer,” Bertinelli shared more about their relationship.
This month, she told PEOPLE Magazine, “I’m in love. I swore I would never fall in love again, so it’s a seesaw of feelings.”
We’re glad to see Valerie content, though!
