Baking Soda: The Natural Remedy to Make Your Home and Laundry Smell Fresh
Bicarbonate lends itself to multiple uses in everyday life: thanks to its antibacterial properties it is a fundamental component for the preparation of do-it-yourself products used in the cleaning and disinfection of objects and environments, and can also be used as a deodorant for the home and softener for laundry , guaranteeing a pleasant clean scent without having to resort to other specific products, often made with chemical components that harm the environment.
1. As a laundry softener
The ingredients :
- 10 grams of baking soda
- 800 ml of apple cider vinegar
- 200 ml of hot water
- 20 drops of essential oil (choose the fragrance you prefer)
The procedure : pour water, vinegar and baking soda into a bowl. After they have finished producing foam, pour them into an empty bottle, which you will keep in a cool place away from direct light. Use this fabric softener like any other when washing in the washing machine.
2. The air freshener
The ingredients :
- Baking soda
- Essential oils in your favorite fragrances
- ( Optional ) Dried herbs (ex: rosemary, lavender) or other naturally scented ingredients such as cinnamon sticks or dried lemon peel .
Procedure : fill a glass jar (or other container with a lid that you can prick) three-quarters full of bicarbonate. Add a few drops of essential oil (maximum 15 per jar). If you want, to increase the scent, add a tablespoon or two of aromatic herbs with a scent equal to that of the essential oil, or combine smells that you like together, perhaps adding cinnamon or lemon.
It takes a few minutes to make these natural products, and you will have a home that smells very pleasantly!
