Some studies like that published in The Journal of Epidemiological & Community Health focus on the link between fluoride and thyroid issues. 

The article indicated these issues lead to obesity and depression. The study says, “in many areas of the world, hypothyroidism is a major health concern and in addition to other factors — such as iodine deficiency—fluoride exposure should be considered as a contributing factor.

The findings of the study raise particular concerns about the validity of community fluoridation as a safe public health measure.”

Further, Harvard School of Public Health and China Medical University in Shenyang focused their study on the possible affects exposure to fluoride can have on brain development on children.

Those who claim there are significant advantages to fluoride because it fights tooth decay fall flat when asked to show scientific evidence of this, because there is none.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned fluoride is wide spread in public water sources.  It can be found in over 70% of municipal water in the US.  However, even more misleading and troubling is the large number of bottled water companies that use fluoride in their water.
