Meghan Markle Drops Shocking Revelation About Mental Health in Latest Interview

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently participated in their first joint interview since 2021, where they expressed their support for their latest initiative. The Duchess of Sussex spoke candidly about her decision to reveal her personal struggle with suicidal thoughts—a deeply personal issue that remains central to her advocacy.

In their interview with CBS Sunday Morning’s Jane Pauley, the couple discussed their new project aimed at raising awareness about the dangers social media poses to young people. They highlighted their work with parents whose children tragically lost their lives due to the devastating impact of online bullying.

Reflecting on her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she first opened up about her mental health struggles, Meghan emphasized the importance of being transparent about such experiences.

“There is a through-line, I think, when you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma,” Meghan shared. “Being completely honest about it is a vital part of the healing process, and it certainly is for me. I haven’t even begun to explore the depths of my experience, but I believe it’s crucial to ensure no one else feels that way, makes those kinds of plans, or is met with disbelief.”

In her interview with Oprah, Meghan Markle, who was pregnant with Princess Lilibet at the time, recalled a particularly distressing moment when she sought help from the institution. “I went to the facility and explained that I needed to go somewhere to seek help. I said, ‘I’ve never felt like this before, and I need to go somewhere,’” she recounted. “But I was told that I couldn’t, that it wouldn’t be good for the institution.”

During the CBS interview, Meghan stressed the importance of sharing her experience, no matter how difficult it may be. “If by voicing what I’ve overcome, I can save someone or encourage others to genuinely check in on their loved ones, not just assume that if someone seems okay, they actually are, then it’s worth it,” she explained. “I’ll take a hit for that.”

The couple’s new initiative, The Parents’ Network, is part of their Archewell Foundation and aims to raise awareness about the dangers social media poses to children and teens. For Harry and Meghan, this pilot program represents a significant step toward meaningful change.

Since their marriage in May 2018, Harry and Meghan have welcomed two children: Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. The couple spoke about their “amazing” children and how their responsibilities as parents shape their professional work.

“Our kids are young; they’re three and five,” Meghan shared. “They are fantastic. But as parents, all you want to do is protect them. Seeing what’s happening in the online world, we know there’s a lot of work to be done, and we’re just glad to be part of a positive change.”

Harry echoed Meghan’s concerns about the responsibilities of parenting in the digital age. “These days, nearly every parent has to act as a first responder, yet even the best first responders in the world might miss the signs of a potential suicide. That’s the most terrifying part,” he remarked.

Through The Parents’ Network and other initiatives, Harry and Meghan remain committed to advocating for safer online environments, drawing from their personal experiences and their dedication to securing a better future for their children.
