Lady Gaga Absolutely Nails Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’ at Sinatra 100 Tribute

Although swing legend Frank Sinatra has long since passed, his 100th birthday was marked in 2015 with a spectacular celebration hosted by the Sinatra family, honoring his musical legacy with an unforgettable tribute show.

“Sinatra 100: An All-Star Grammy Concert,” recorded at the Encore Theatre in Las Vegas and broadcast on CBS, brought together a stellar lineup of pop icons, each performing one of Frank’s timeless jazz classics. But when Lady Gaga took the stage to close the show, it became clear that they had indeed saved the best for last.

Lady Gaga’s sensational finale is on the verge of making internet legend. Taking on the indomitable Sinatra hit, “New York, New York” in all its glitz, Gaga’s pose-striking silhouette rises from a platform beneath the stage and, spinning to show off her chic, fitted tux crowned with Frank’s trademark black hat, puts on a completely spellbinding performance.

Her rich voice lined with stunning vintage vibratos and her ultra-sleek dance moves a masterclass in androgyny, Gaga is joined by sequin- and feather-spangled backing dancers as she nails the immensity of the track, pitch-perfect and soaked in personality.
