Who is Barry Gibb married to? All about his marriage to Linda Gray
|Barry Gibb has been happily married to his wife, Linda Gray, for over 50 years.
The Grammy-winning musician, singer, and songwriter first rose to fame as a member of the iconic band the Bee Gees, alongside his late brothers, Robin and Maurice. Born in England and raised in Australia, Gibb married his first wife, Maureen Bates, in 1966 when he was just 19. However, the marriage ended soon after, as he revealed in a 2017 episode of *Piers Morgan’s Life Stories*.
After the Bee Gees returned to England to further their music career, Gibb met Linda Gray, a former Miss Edinburgh from Scotland, in 1967. The couple married three years later and have since welcomed five children together.
So, who is Barry Gibb’s wife? Here’s everything you need to know about Linda Gray and her enduring relationship with the legendary singer.
Gibb and Gray first met in September 1967 on the set of the British music TV show *Top of the Pops*.
Gray had recently been crowned Miss Edinburgh and was hosting the show the same week the Bee Gees’ first hit, “Massachusetts,” reached No. 1 on the charts, with the band scheduled to perform. In a 2021 interview with *The Sun*, Gibb recalled, “We just saw each other across the room, and something happened.”
Gibb and Gray tied the knot at Caxton Hall in London on Sept. 1, 1970. The wedding took place on Gibb’s 24th birthday
Gibb and Gray share five children: four sons—Stephen, Ashley, Travis, and Michael—and one daughter, Alexandra. The couple welcomed their first child, Stephen, in 1973, three years after marrying, and their youngest, Alexandra, in 1991.
After the deaths of his brothers Maurice in 2003 and Robin in 2012, Gibb found himself in a difficult place, feeling lost and stuck in the past. In a 2016 interview with *Billboard*, he admitted he was “moping around” and ready to give up. “I was done. There was no point in going on any further,” he said. That is, until his wife Linda stepped in to pull him out of it.
“She came into the room one night and said, ‘You’ve got to get off your a–. You still have your own life. You’ve got to live,’” Gibb recalled.
Gray encouraged him to return to the stage, and by 2014, Gibb embarked on his first solo tour, performing with his son Stephen and his niece Samantha, Maurice’s daughter. Touring with family felt natural, Gibb told *TIME* that year: “We all want to play together. It’s a treat to have Steve standing next to me and Sammy singing.”
In 2016, Gibb released his debut solo album, *In the Now*, co-written with his sons Stephen and Ashley. He described the album to *Billboard* as a reflection on his life: “My feelings and my journey with my brothers, and without my brothers, with my parents and without my parents, and with my own family, seeing my kids have their own kids.”
