Lainey Wilson Shares Tearful Moment With a “Day One” Fan: “You Were There When Nobody Was”

It’s hard to believe how fast Lainey Wilson’s star has risen.

In just the past year, the country powerhouse has won Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards for the second year in a row, opened her own bar in Downtown Nashville, and even earned her very own exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

And somehow, in between all that, she’s still out there performing nearly every night for thousands of fans who adore her.

But even with all the fame and flashing lights, Lainey hasn’t forgotten where she came from — or the people who were there before the spotlight.

 “You Were There When Nobody Was”

In a recent Instagram post, Wilson shared a touching moment that stopped a packed arena in its tracks.

Mid-performance, Lainey suddenly spotted a familiar face in the front row — a woman who had been attending her shows long before she became a household name.

“Lord have mercy, it is good to see you,” Lainey called out from the stage, emotion instantly flooding her voice. “You were literally there when nobody was there. I’m not even playing.”

The fan had been coming to Lainey’s shows for about six years, faithfully showing up even when only a handful of people filled the room.

Wilson set her guitar down and walked toward her.
“I’ma come hug your neck, first of all,” she said with a smile.

As the two embraced, Lainey wiped away tears — visibly moved by the reminder of how far she’s come, and who helped her get there.

“From the beginning, girl!” she continued. “Remember when we played that casino and literally nobody was there — it was just you on the front row by the barricade?”

Then, through the emotion of the moment, she simply said:

“I love you. Thank you.” ❤️
