Lainey Wilson Claps Back at Body Shamers: “Worry ’Bout Your Own”

Country star Lainey Wilson has had enough of the unsolicited comments about her body—and she’s not holding back.

It all started in 2022 when a video of Wilson performing in a pair of leopard print bell-bottoms went viral, thanks to a now-famous shot of her “backside.” Wilson took the moment in stride, cracking jokes and keeping it light-hearted.

“If you found out about my music and stuck around because of the butt or because of the music… you’re welcome!” she told ET Canada.

She even leaned into the joke, releasing the cheeky duet “Thicc as Thieves” with Lauren Alaina in 2023, which sampled Luke Bryan’s “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”

But as her fame grew and her tour schedule intensified, Wilson naturally dropped some weight—spending hours a night running around on stage will do that. Suddenly, the internet flipped: instead of talking about her curves, people began criticizing her slimmer frame.

In true Lainey fashion, she didn’t let it slide. In September 2024, she fired back at a crude comment asking what happened to her famous behind, replying with a sharp and hilarious:

“Worry ’bout your own.”

She also had to set the record straight on scammy weight loss ads using her name and image without permission:

“It ain’t true. People will do whatever to make a dollar—even if it’s lies. Ain’t nobody sent me any gummies.”

Wilson clarified that any changes in her appearance came from pure hustle, not supplements:

“If I have lost weight, it’s because I’m working hard and playing hour-and-a-half shows every night. Me losing or gaining weight ain’t got anything to do with my music.”

In a recent episode of the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, the newly engaged singer got even more candid. She shared how strange it’s been to watch people obsess over her body.

“At first, it was funny,” Wilson said, referring to the viral butt moment. “I thought it was going to be a quick little thing, something to laugh about.”

But the constant comments started to wear on her:

“I read way too many things people had to say about me… Even if you don’t believe it, just reading that stuff for a split second can leave a mark.”

Once she lost weight, the narrative shifted again. People accused her of taking weight loss drugs or chasing trends.

“I had played 186 shows in one year, and then people had a lot to say about that. They thought I was on something. It was just the weirdest thing. Like—this has nothing to do with my music.”

For Wilson, it all comes back to values.

“My parents didn’t raise me to focus on how someone looks. They taught me to look at someone’s heart.”

And when asked what she had to say to all the critics?

With a laugh, she responded:

“Kiss my fat a–.”
