Congratulations are pouring in for Keith Urban, who received the Triple Crown Award at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday, March 8 — a milestone moment that honored his decades-long impact on country music.
Held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, the ceremony opened with a touching musical tribute. Megan Moroney kicked it off with a tender version of “Stupid Boy,” followed by Chris Stapleton performing “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and signing off with, “We love you, Keith.” Urban sang along from the crowd, smiling and swaying with his wife, Nicole Kidman, who sweetly wrapped her arms around him during the performance.
Brothers Osborne closed the tribute with “Where the Blacktop Ends,” before Keith took the stage, guitar in hand, to join the performance — then stepped up to the mic to deliver a heartfelt speech.
“My wife, Nicole Mary, is here tonight. I love you, babygirl,” Urban began, his voice full of emotion. “And our girls, Sunday and Faith, watching at home tonight — I love you both, too.”
He went on to thank the performers, his road crew, and the fans who’ve supported him through every step of his journey.
“There’s no such thing as a self-made man,” he said. “I want to thank my team, my road family, and everyone who’s been coming to the shows all these years. You’re the reason I get to do what I love.”
Urban also expressed appreciation to country radio, his label Capitol Records, and the team behind his success, before teasing his upcoming tour, which kicks off later this month.
Urban earned the Triple Crown by previously winning New Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year — making him the first artist to receive the honor since Carrie Underwood in 2010.
And there’s more on the horizon: Urban is set to headline a brand-new CBS music competition series titled “The Road”, co-produced by Blake Shelton. Premiering this fall, the show will follow rising musicians opening for Urban on tour, with fans helping to decide who continues on the journey.
One thing is certain — after a night filled with love, legacy, and music, Keith Urban reminded the world why he remains one of country’s most beloved stars.
