Kane Brown Steps Back From Social Media After Backlash to Charlie Kirk Tribute
Kane Brown is hitting pause on social media after receiving intense criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. The backlash came after he posted a tribute to the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday (Sept. 10).

Brown revealed screenshots of the responses he received—not just to his words about Kirk’s death, but also to a separate post honoring victims of a high school mass shooting in Colorado that took place the same day. The reactions were swift and divided: some accused him of ignoring Democratic leaders who were recently killed, while others slammed him for showing any empathy toward a Democratic perspective.

One comment struck particularly deep. A fan told Brown that, as a Black man, his tribute to Kirk “offended [his] ancestors,” calling Kirk a racist who opposed gun regulations. Brown responded: “I’ve been called a n—-r my whole life. I don’t want those people dead.”

Shaken by the hostility, Brown told fans, “My last post for a while, be safe guys and love one another.”
How Did Charlie Kirk Die?
Kirk was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. He was struck in the neck, hospitalized in critical condition, and later died. Known as the founder of Turning Point USA, Kirk’s death was mourned nationwide, including a statement of tribute from former President Donald Trump.

Though his original tribute appears to have been deleted, Brown later shared part of an Instagram Live to his feed. Visibly emotional, he said: “I’ve been crying for two hours. At the end of the day dude, I just want everybody to love each other…left side, right side, Black, white, different language speaking, different country living, just love each other. If you see somebody down, just pick ’em up.”
Frustrated with the political attacks, Brown stressed that he doesn’t talk politics, but wanted to use the moment to spread love. “I just want y’all to love each other, bro. It’s really not that hard.”
He ended with a heartfelt message: “Show love to everyone in your lives.”
