Kane Brown Honors Randy Travis with Heartfelt Surprise Performance in Oklahoma
|Fans at Kane Brown’s headline show in Oklahoma on Saturday, August 20, got more than just a great performance—they witnessed a heartwarming surprise. In the middle of his set, Brown introduced country music legend Randy Travis to the stage.
Travis, seated in his signature red wheelchair, beamed with joy as Brown honored him with a heartfelt rendition of the 2002 hit “Three Wooden Crosses.” Initially standing while singing, Brown soon moved closer to his longtime musical inspiration.
“Can I have a chair, please?” Brown asked, as captured in fan-recorded footage. Once seated, he continued the song, encouraging the cheering crowd to join in. Travis, visibly moved, smiled and waved to the audience as they sang along.
This wasn’t the first time Brown used the song to pay tribute to Travis. He previously performed it at the 2021 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony, where Travis was honored with the Artist of a Lifetime Award. For Brown, singing “Three Wooden Crosses” always feels like coming full circle. In 2016, when he was still an up-and-coming artist, he performed the song on a radio show—only to be stunned when Travis himself unexpectedly appeared mid-performance.
Brown is staying busy this summer with a packed tour schedule and gearing up for the release of his new album, Different Man, on September 9.
