Country Star Marriages That Define the Term “Relationship Goals”
Country music is filled with stories about true love, heartbreak, and devotion — but some of the genre’s biggest stars don’t just sing about lasting love… they live it.
Behind the spotlight, the touring, and the long nights on the road, several country artists have built marriages that have stood strong for decades.
Staying married is hard work for any couple. Staying married while living in the public eye is something else entirely. But these country stars have weathered storms, raised families, overcome loss, supported each other’s dreams, and created partnerships that truly define “relationship goals.”
Before we dive in, here are a few quick notes:
-
This list highlights couples married for 25+ years.
-
It now includes couples where one or both partners have passed away.
-
And of course, this is not an exhaustive list — feel free to share your favorites in the comments!
With that, let’s celebrate some of country music’s longest-lasting love stories.

Alan & Denise Jackson
Alan and Denise’s love story began in high school, long before the awards, the fame, and the world tours. They married on December 15, 1979, and went on to raise three daughters — Mattie, Ali, and Dani.
In 2022, just two days before their 43rd anniversary, they welcomed their first grandchild, Jackson.
Through all of life’s ups and downs, Alan and Denise remain one of country music’s most beloved and enduring couples.

George & Norma Strait
Like the Jacksons, George and Norma Strait were also high school sweethearts. They married on December 4, 1971, after eloping to Mexico.
Their lives were forever shaped by both joy and heartbreak. They welcomed two children, Bubba and Jenifer — and tragically lost Jenifer in a car accident in 1986 at just 13 years old.
Their bond, however, only grew stronger. In 2021, George serenaded Norma with “I Cross My Heart” during a concert on their 50th anniversary, bringing the crowd to tears.

Tim McGraw & Faith Hill
One of country music’s most iconic power couples, Tim and Faith have been married since October 6, 1996.
They share three daughters — Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey — and have famously recorded duets, toured together, and even co-starred in the hit Yellowstone prequel series 1883.
Their partnership blends talent, passion, and unwavering support.
Kris Kristofferson & Lisa Meyers
Kris Kristofferson and Lisa Meyers met in 1982 and married the following February. Their blended family grew to include eight children — three from Kris’s previous marriages and five together.
They built a peaceful life in Hawaii, far from the Hollywood rush. In later years, Lisa became Kris’s anchor as he battled serious health issues, including a misdiagnosis of Alzheimer’s later corrected to Lyme disease.
They were married for 41 years, until Kris passed away in 2024 at age 88.

Vince Gill & Amy Grant
Vince Gill and Amy Grant married on March 10, 2000, blending their families in a beautiful outdoor ceremony near Nashville.
Each brought children from previous marriages — Amy with Matthew, Sarah, and Millie; Vince with daughter Jenny. In 2001, they welcomed their daughter Corrina together.
The couple recently celebrated their 25th anniversary, still going strong and inspiring fans with their love and grace.
Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash
Few country couples are as legendary as Johnny and June. They married on March 1, 1968 and blended their families, eventually welcoming their son John Carter Cash in 1970.
They recorded unforgettable duets like “Jackson” and “It Ain’t Me Babe,” and their love story became one of country music’s most iconic.
They were married for 35 years before June passed in 2003. Johnny passed away just four months later — a testament to their incredible bond.
Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black
Married since October 20, 1991, Clint and Lisa Hartman Black are another powerhouse country couple. They share a daughter, Lily Pearl, and are adored for their duet “When I Said I Do” — a modern country classic.
They continue to tour together and even appeared on The Masked Singer as the Snow Owls, showing the world how fun and united they are as a pair.

Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter
The original outlaw country power couple. Waylon and Jessi married in 1969 and spent 32 years together.
Between them, they raised a large blended family and welcomed their son, Shooter Jennings, in 1979. Their duet “Storms Never Last” became an anthem for their real-life story — a relationship that weathered storms but never broke.
Waylon passed in 2002, and Jessi later remarried in 2023, continuing her life with love and gratitude.
Dolly Parton & Carl Dean
Dolly and Carl married on May 30, 1966, becoming one of the most quietly successful marriages in entertainment. While Dolly became a global icon, Carl preferred his privacy — and somehow, that balance worked beautifully.
Dolly often said Carl’s humor and steady presence kept her grounded. They were married nearly 59 years before Carl passed on March 3, 2025.
Their love remains one of country music’s greatest stories.
