Meet Lauren and Kaylee Thomas, Championship-Winning Clog Dancers

There are plenty of talented dancers online, from ballroom to street, tap to morris dancing. But every once in a while, a performance surprises you, and Lauren and Kaylee Thomas are just that. These two sisters are championship-winning clog dancers, a style described by Ridge Runner Cloggers as “an energetic percussive style of dance where the dancer wears shoes with special taps attached.”

Clogging is a popular sport, and if this is your introduction, get ready to be wowed by Lauren and Kaylee in action. The video below was recorded at the 2016 Clogging Champions of America Showdown of Champions, showcasing the contemporary part of the competition, though they competed in the traditional part too. Their performance is nothing short of incredible!

Though they may look like twins, Kaylee is actually two years older than Lauren. Both blonde and dressed in matching outfits, they captivate the audience with their lightning-fast footwork. As the video begins, six pairs are lined up on stage for a dance-off, but Lauren and Kaylee immediately steal the spotlight in their black tops and sparkly pants. Their routine is flawless—perfectly synchronized kicks, spins, and arm twists that leave you in awe of their energy and precision.

Unbelievably, this wasn’t their first win. The sisters have claimed the national championship title an astonishing fifteen times! Despite their young age, they started early—Lauren at just three years old and Kaylee at five—both born and raised in Berea, Kentucky. Their natural talent quickly took them from local competitions to dominating the national stage.

While clogging has roots in other countries, the style Lauren and Kaylee perform is unique to the USA, so we won’t see them competing internationally. However, balancing school and downtime with their busy dance schedules might be a blessing in disguise.

Beyond competitions, the girls have also graced TV screens, appearing on Nickelodeon’s Figure It Out and an updated version of The Gong Show. It’s an impressive career for two siblings who have been performing for most of their young lives. Their deep bond and love for dancing keep them close, despite the intense hours of training.

As they grow older, their paths may diverge, but their shared history on the dance floor ensures they will always remain close. And if you’re still craving more of Lauren and Kaylee’s jaw-dropping talent, check out their performance to a medley from The Greatest Showman.
