The Carrie Underwood Performance Nobody Expected at the Field of Dreams
Carrie Underwood walked onto the stage at Iowa’s iconic Field of Dreams expecting to deliver a country show.

Instead, she gave fans something they never saw coming.
During the Velocity Music Festival in Dyersville, Iowa, the country superstar turned up the volume and unleashed her rock side — proving once again that her musical range goes far beyond country.
Underwood made history as the first female artist to headline the iconic Field of Dreams, but it was what she did during her set that had everyone talking.
Alongside country favorites like “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” Carrie surprised the crowd with rock and nu-metal classics, including Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff,” Papa Roach’s “Scars,” Collective Soul’s “Shine,” and Linkin Park’s “One Step Closer.”
And she didn’t just sing them.
Carrie went all in.
For “Break Stuff,” she jumped around the stage and even wore a backward red baseball cap — a nod to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. When she tackled Linkin Park, she was headbanging along with the music.

Then came another huge moment: “Sweet Child o’ Mine.”
For someone known around the world as a country superstar, Carrie looked completely at home in rock territory.
And honestly, this side of Carrie shouldn’t surprise anyone.
She has been open about her love of rock music for years and has shared the stage with legendary rock acts including Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith and Mötley Crüe. Her history with Guns N’ Roses has been especially memorable, including multiple performances alongside the band after Axl Rose made a surprise appearance during her 2022 Stagecoach set.
Carrie later reflected on the Iowa festival, saying she had an incredible time and thanking everyone who came out to party.
But perhaps the biggest takeaway from the night is simple:
Carrie Underwood doesn’t have to choose between country and rock.
She can own both stages.

And on this night at the Field of Dreams, she reminded everyone that beneath the country hits, powerhouse vocals and glamorous performances is a woman who still knows exactly how to rock the house.
