“Rock Legends Unite: Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams Deliver an Epic Performance of ‘Cuts Like a Knife’ at the Invictus Games in Toronto, Creating an Unforgettable Night of Musical Magic!”

Things got a bit reckless at the Invictus Games in Toronto when Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams teamed up for an onstage jam on Saturday night (Sept. 30).

Springsteen, who performed his own set as part of the Games’ closing ceremonies, joined Adams and his band for a live rendition of Adams’ 1983 hit, “Cuts Like a Knife.” This marked the first time the two rock legends had ever shared the stage. The concert, held at the Air Canada Centre, also featured performances by Kelly Clarkson, Bachman & Turner, and Coeur de Pirate.

Springsteen’s solo set—perhaps offering a preview of his upcoming solo concerts on Broadway, which began the following Tuesday—featured acoustic versions of “Working on the Highway” and “Dancing in the Dark” from his 1984 album *Born in the USA*, along with “The Promised Land” from his 1978 album *Darkness on the Edge of Town*. While his solo set was a stripped-down performance with just a guitar and harmonica, the 68-year-old rocker plugged in to join Adams and his band for “Badlands” and their energetic duet of “Cuts Like a Knife.”

Interestingly, Springsteen had previously covered “Cuts Like a Knife” at a Rainforest benefit at Carnegie Hall in 2010, making this Toronto performance a reunion with the track.

The Invictus Games is a week-long series of Paralympic-style games for wounded military veterans. The first games took place in London in 2014, then moved to Orlando in 2016.

Springsteen begins previews of his “Springsteen on Broadway” Tuesday at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City. The shows will continue through Feb. 3.
