Ricky Martin’s Twins Are All Grown Up: They’re the Spitting Image of Their Father

Ricky Martin stands as one of the most iconic singers of his generation, famed for his striking looks and sultry vocals. Now at 52, the Puerto Rican superstar is a father to four children.

Ricky Martin longed to become a father, but his journey was complicated by concerns about his sexuality. Reflecting on his aspirations, the singer revealed, “I’ve dreamed of being a father for many years, and countless times I’ve faced a painful grieving process thinking, ‘I am gay, I am a closeted gay man, and I might never become a daddy.'”

Martin became a single father to twin boys, Matteo and Valentino, born via surrogacy in 2008. Now 15 years old, the twins have been a central part of his life. In 2017, Martin married Jwan Yosef. Speaking about his family dynamics, he expressed, “My kids ask me about having two daddies and I tell them we are part of a modern family,” adding, “This is a beautiful sense of freedom.”

The couple expanded their family with the addition of their daughter Lucia and son Renn, who are now 5 and 4 years old, respectively. Born just 9 months apart, both children were conceived via surrogacy.

Martin has often spoken about his desire for a large family. In a 2020 interview, he shared, “There are moments when I want 10 more kids, and then there are mornings where everyone’s crying and I think, ‘Okay, maybe we’re good with six [people in the family].'”

In July 2023, Martin and Yosef announced their decision to divorce after six years of marriage.

The statement included, “Our foremost wish is to maintain a healthy family dynamic and a relationship founded on peace and friendship, to continue co-parenting our children together.”

Martin’s 15-year-old son, Matteo, is the older of the fraternal twins, born on August 9, 2008, weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz. His name means “gift from God.”

As the twins have grown older, they often join their dad at work. Matteo, for instance, accompanied Martin to the set of one of his music videos. The proud dad captured this special moment and shared it on Instagram, writing, “Look who decided to accompany me to the filming of my new video,” alongside a photo of Matteo posing in a director’s chair, giving a thumbs-up to the camera.

In a 2020 interview, Martin shared how his kids offer candid feedback on his performances. “They tell me, ‘Dad, yesterday was better than today. What’s going on with your singing?’ They are very honest, and I appreciate it,” he said. “[They say], ‘I liked the dance you did yesterday. Today was a little bit weak, Dad.’ This is what’s happening in this house.”

Valentino, the second of the twins and also 15 years old, was born minutes after his brother on August 9, 2008, weighing 5 lbs. 6 oz. His name means ‘brave one.’ Now a teenager, Valentino aspires to become a YouTuber one day.

“Matteo is more into the arts and Valentino is gonna spend his life in front of a screen because he wants to be the best YouTuber in the world,” said.

Now in their teenage years, the twins closely resemble their father and nearly match his height. Martin recently shared a rare photo of the two boys standing next to him during a recent vacation.

Martin’s only daughter, Lucia, was born in 2018 and is now 5 years old. Martin and Yosef announced her birth on Instagram with a caption that expressed their joy: “Both her brothers and Jwan and I are completely in love with our baby and grateful to be able to start this 2019 with the best gift we could receive, the gift of life.”

The youngest member of Martin’s family is his son Renn, who was born via surrogacy during his marriage to Yosef. Renn arrived on October 29, 2019. The couple shared the news of their son’s birth on Instagram, posting a photo of them holding their newborn with a caption that announced, “Our son Renn Martin-Yosef was born.”
