Rick Harrison Opens Up About the Tragic Loss of His 39-Year-Old Son

Renowned as the face of the popular TV show Pawn Stars, Rick Harrison has broken his silence following the tragic death of his 39-year-old son, Adam.

The heartbreaking news, initially reported by TMZ, revealed that Adam Harrison passed away due to a suspected drug overdose. Rick has now disclosed that fentanyl was the culprit, emphasizing the urgent need to address the fentanyl crisis gripping the nation.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Rick expressed, “Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose. The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”

The circumstances surrounding Adam’s overdose, such as when and where it occurred, remain undisclosed. The Las Vegas Metro Police Department has initiated an investigation.

Representing the Harrison family, Laura Herlovich released a statement requesting privacy: “Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam. We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss.”

Adam, Rick’s second child from his first marriage, was the younger brother of Corey Harrison. Although not featured on Pawn Stars, Adam reportedly worked at the family’s business, Gold & Silver Pawn, before the show premiered in 2009. However, he had not been actively involved in the pawn shop recently.

Rick, who later married Tracy and shares a son named Jake with her, took to Instagram to pay tribute to his late son. Alongside a photo of himself and Adam at a bar, he wrote, “You will always be in my heart! I love you, Adam. 💔”

Recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveal a 56.6% increase in overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids from January 2020 to 2021.

Fentanyl, classified as a Schedule II controlled substance by the Drug Enforcement Agency, is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine. Alarmingly, just two milligrams (less than a grain of salt) can be lethal depending on a person’s body size.
