Ozzy Osbourne, 74, gives health update after “final” surgery – “I can’t do it anymore”
|Ozzy Osbourne has completed what is hoped to be his final surgery to repair his broken neck, describing the past few years as “absolute hell.”
The 74-year-old rock legend initially sustained severe neck injuries nearly two decades ago in a quad bike accident in 2003.
Later, in 2019, Ozzy suffered a fall that exacerbated the old injury, significantly impacting the health of the musician known as the ‘Prince of Darkness.’
Recently, Osbourne shared an update in an interview, detailing his ordeal as “five years of absolute hell for me and my family.”
While speaking on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Osbourne was questioned about his current health status. He replied, “I finally had my last procedure two days ago.”
“I can’t believe it’s finally over. The main part is done now; I’ve completed the surgery.”
The “Hellraiser” singer elaborated: “But it’s been five years of absolute hell for me and my family. They’ve been incredibly supportive of me. I couldn’t have done it without them. It’s been a really tough situation. I have Parkinson’s, but I never think about it.”
Jack Osbourne, Ozzy’s son, noted that one of the “biggest misconceptions” about his father’s health was that his struggles were primarily due to Parkinson’s. However, it appears that Ozzy was most affected by the neck injury and the subsequent fall he experienced in 2019.
“I continued working through it until I had a fall, and then everything just unraveled,” Ozzy explained.
“I don’t gripe, I get on with it. If you are still moving, you ain’t going to be dead.”
Osboune said this week that the fourth surgery on his neck would be his last, explaining on “The Osbournes” podcast: “It is gonna be the final surgery, because I can’t do it anymore. Regardless of the way it ends up after tomorrow, I’m not doing it anymore. I can’t.”
Earlier this year, Ozzy Osbourne made headlines when he canceled his live comeback tour, just months after his persistent health problems led him to announce his retirement from touring.
Since his last tour in 2018, Ozzy has performed live only twice. Health complications have resulted in a series of canceled tours since 2019, including his recent withdrawal from the Power Trip Festival.
