Morgan Freeman Says He Won’t Retire — and He’s Furious About AI Copying His Voice

Hollywood icon Morgan Freeman, known for one of the most recognizable voices in the world, is firing back at artificial intelligence companies and creators who are reproducing his voice without permission. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 88-year-old actor made it clear: he’s not retiring anytime soon — and he’s not staying silent about misuse of his voice, either.

“I’m a little PO’d… Don’t mimic me with falseness.”

Freeman revealed that his legal team has been “very, very busy” removing unauthorized AI-generated voice clips circulating online. He said he becomes “pissed off” when he hears digital recreations of his voice being used in videos, ads, and content that he never approved.

“I’m like any other actor: Don’t mimic me with falseness. I don’t appreciate it, and I get paid for doing stuff like that. So if you’re gonna do it without me, you’re robbing me.”

This isn’t the first time Freeman has spoken out. Back in June 2024, he took to social media to thank fans for helping expose ads and videos using AI-generated versions of his voice without his consent. He wrote at the time:

“Thank you to my incredible fans for your vigilance in calling out unauthorized use of an AI voice imitating me. Your dedication helps authenticity and integrity remain paramount.”

Still Working at 88 — Retirement Not on the Radar

While many actors slow down as they approach 90, Morgan Freeman isn’t one of them. The star has been promoting his latest film, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” the third installment in the popular magic-heist franchise. It’s his only movie release of 2025 — a rare slowdown for an actor who has consistently appeared in two or three films each year.

Freeman admitted that the idea of retirement has crossed his mind, but only briefly.

“Sometimes the idea of retirement would float past me,” he said. “But as soon as my agent says there’s a job or an offer, the whole thing just goes back to where it was yesterday.”

When he talks about new projects, the fire is still there — even if he acknowledges it has cooled slightly with age.

“The appetite is still there. It’s dimmed a little… but not enough to make a serious difference.”

A Voice Worth Protecting

Morgan Freeman’s voice has become part of global pop culture — used in documentaries, parodies, advertisements, and some of the most powerful films in Hollywood history. That’s exactly why unauthorized AI recreations strike such a nerve.

For Freeman, it’s not just about the sound of his voice — it’s about his identity, his legacy, and his livelihood.

And even at 88, he’s making one thing crystal clear:
He’s still here, still working, and still protecting what’s his.
