Luke Bryan Explains the Personal Reason He Won’t Play Concerts on Fridays
Luke Bryan may have one of the busiest schedules in country music, but there’s one day of the week you won’t see him on stage: Fridays. And his reason is both personal and heartfelt.

During a recent interview with Country Countdown USA, the “Play It Again” singer opened up about life offstage and why he keeps Fridays sacred. The reason? His two teenage sons, Bo (17) and Tate (15).
Now that they’re older, Bryan’s boys are heavily involved in extracurriculars—especially sports. Bo, a junior in high school, is the quarterback of his football team. For Luke, that means Friday nights are reserved for the bleachers, not the spotlight.
“Bo is playing high school football. I try to take every Friday off so I can see him play,” Bryan explained, adding how proud he is of his son’s hard work on the field.
For Bryan, these moments are priceless. With Bo now driving and getting closer to college, Luke admits the family doesn’t see him as much as they used to. “I don’t know what we’re going to do when he goes off to college,” he said.
Balancing Family and Tour Life
While Bryan prioritizes family on Fridays, the rest of his schedule is packed. The 49-year-old is currently on his Country On tour, traveling across the U.S. this summer.
But it hasn’t been without challenges. Earlier this season, Bryan had to refund tickets after his voice gave out mid-performance. It was later revealed he had contracted COVID, forcing him to cancel a few shows.
When he returned, he faced an unexpected swarm of mayflies during a piano ballad—proving that even superstars can’t control nature. More recently, he became the latest artist to have an object thrown at him on stage, when a fan hit him in the face with a ball mid-song.
What’s Next for Luke Bryan?
Despite the hurdles, Bryan remains committed to his fans—and even more committed to his family. His next show is scheduled for August 14 in Charleston, West Virginia, but don’t expect him to sacrifice Friday nights under the stadium lights for Friday nights under the tour lights.

For Luke Bryan, success isn’t just measured in sold-out concerts—it’s measured in touchdowns, family time, and memories made before the kids are grown.
