Linda Inherits Grandma’s Clocks, Greedy Brother Takes the House – But Linda’s Windfall Is Almost $200K

Brian, the greedy older brother, inherited the family house and mocked his younger sister, Linda, who received only a handful of old clocks from their late grandmother. Unbeknownst to them, those clocks held a hidden surprise.

“Grandma called you too?” Brian sneered at Linda as she stepped out of the taxi. “I thought you’d be busy in the library…like a good little bookworm!” His dismissive tone cut through Linda’s anxious hope that their grandmother, Marlene, would still be well.

At 90, Marlene had urgently requested their presence. “I might not get another chance to see you,” she’d said over the phone two days ago. Linda’s heart ached as she stepped into Marlene’s dusty, neglected bedroom. The room’s moldy ceiling and unkempt floor reflected Marlene’s deteriorating health.

“Grandma!” Linda cried as she embraced Marlene, lying frail in bed. “Don’t worry, nothing will happen to you. God will keep you with us.”

Linda had moved to the city for college a year ago, leaving Marlene’s care behind. She was ready to sacrifice a promising scholarship to stay, but Marlene insisted she pursue her dreams.

Brian entered the room, complaining about the dust and ignoring Marlene’s suffering. He was more interested in finding out why they had been summoned. Marlene, with a weak smile, presented two envelopes. “I want to give you these,” she said. Inside were two envelopes, each containing $5,000.

Linda’s tears flowed as she ran out, overwhelmed by the emotional gesture. Brian, unimpressed, scoffed at the small amount and left without thanking Marlene.

The next morning, Linda returned unexpectedly. She had brought an additional $4,000 she’d saved, totaling $9,000. “Grandma, I want to use this for your eye surgery,” she said, only to be told it was too late. Marlene, moved by Linda’s generosity, decided the money should be used for something else.

Linda took a month off from school to stay with Marlene, transforming the house by fixing leaks and making renovations. Marlene, overwhelmed by gratitude, wept tears of joy as Linda restored the home to its former glory.

A week later, Marlene passed away peacefully. After the funeral, Linda and Brian were called to the lawyer’s office regarding Marlene’s will. Brian was given the house, while Linda received the five old clocks.

Brian laughed derisively, “You got a handful of rusty old clocks, while I got the house! Guess luck favors some.”

Distraught, Linda returned to the city with the clocks. One day, she noticed an inscription on one of them: “OPEN IT!” She carefully opened the clock and found a note inside.

“Never underestimate these old watches! They are 100-year-old classics made from rare metal, each worth $40,000!” The note continued, “Everyone gets what they truly deserve. I’m glad you received the best. With Love, Granny Marlene.”

Tears of joy filled Linda’s eyes as she held the clocks close. She decided to keep the discovery to herself, knowing that her grandmother had given her the true treasure. Brian could believe whatever he wanted—Linda knew that she had received exactly what she deserved.
