Lainey Wilson Tried to Give Her Husband a Singing Lesson His Response Had Fans Crying With Laughter

Lainey Wilson may be one of country music’s biggest voices, but apparently her husband, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, still has a little work to do in the singing department.

The couple gave fans another hilarious glimpse into their relationship when Lainey decided to turn a casual music moment into an impromptu singing lesson — and Duck’s reaction was absolutely priceless.

Lainey Put Duck to the Test

In a video shared on Friday, September 18, Lainey picked up her guitar and started singing her new song, “Phone, Wallet, Keys.”

Everything seemed to be going smoothly as she encouraged Duck to join her.

Then came his part.

Lainey looked over and made it clear that it was his turn to sing.

Duck immediately laughed.

Instead of confidently jumping in, he admitted that he simply couldn’t do it.

But he wasn’t about to completely abandon the performance.

Duck decided he could still contribute — just not with his voice.

His solution?

He would whistle along to the beat.

And honestly, Lainey seemed perfectly happy to let him give it a shot.

Fans Had Plenty to Say

The funny moment quickly had fans filling the comments with playful advice for Duck.

One person joked, “Stick with the whistling Duck, leave the singing to Lainey 😂.”

Another fan took things even further, writing, “Love the videos! But I think Duck needs to stick with Duck hunting! 😂”

The comments captured exactly what makes Lainey and Duck’s videos so entertaining: there’s no pressure to be perfect. They simply seem to enjoy making each other laugh.

From Private Romance to Fan Favorites

Lainey and Duck have been together since 2021, although they kept much of their relationship private in the beginning.

They eventually made their relationship public, appearing together on the red carpet at the 2023 ACM Awards. In February 2025, the couple announced their engagement with sweet photos from the special moment.

Since then, Lainey has increasingly given fans little glimpses into their life together.

And those glimpses often show a much different side of the country superstar — one filled with jokes, playful teasing and everyday moments with the man she loves.

Duck, who previously played professional football before moving into real estate, has also become a familiar face to Lainey’s followers.
