Gabby Barrett Ignored the Advice and Married at 19 — Now Her Love Story Is Melting Hearts

When Gabby Barrett married Cade Foehner on October 5, 2019, she was only 19 years old. Most people thought it was too soon.

They had met just a year earlier while competing on American Idol, where their connection quickly turned into something deeper. But as their relationship grew serious, the advice from people around them sounded the same:

Slow down.
Wait a few years.
Enjoy your twenties.
Make the “smart choice.”

Gabby didn’t.

She followed her heart instead.

Over the weekend, she shared a raw acoustic clip of a song she wrote during that time in her life. The song, called “Young,” has never been officially released, but the message behind it hit thousands of fans right in the heart.

In the song she sings about the doubts people had:

“Young, everyone says we’re too young.
Supposed to be single and dancing with strangers, waiting on tables.
Just starting out, having fun.
They say we should just take our time, slow it down.
But I didn’t mean to need you like the air that I’m breathin’.”

The caption she wrote made the moment even more powerful:

“This wasn’t the smart choice. But 8 years later…”

And that’s when Cade replied with a simple comment that said everything:

“It’s the ride of a lifetime.”

Eight years later, the couple now share three children, a strong marriage, and a love story that started when everyone else thought they were too young.

Sometimes life doesn’t follow the timeline people expect.

Sometimes the “smart choice” isn’t the one your heart believes in.

And sometimes, the young hearts who refuse to wait end up proving everyone wrong.
