Fans Speculate: What Happened to Carrie Underwood’s Husband?
|Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, have been a staple couple on the red carpet. They’ve walked together at the world’s most prestigious award ceremonies, including the Grammys, CMA Awards, and American Music Awards.
Fans love catching glimpses of this country star and her retired hockey player husband, always appearing deeply in love.
The CMT Music Awards are one event where you can consistently see Mike Fisher supporting his wife. The former Nashville Predators star has joined Carrie Underwood at the awards in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019, always proudly by her side.
The pandemic temporarily changed how award shows operated, but by 2022, Fisher was once again seen supporting his wife at public events.
However, during the 2023 CMT Awards in Austin, Texas, on April 2, Fisher was noticeably absent. But fans shouldn’t worry about any trouble in paradise between Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher. He was unable to attend because Underwood was competing for Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year.
When asked about her husband’s absence on the red carpet, the “Hate My Heart” singer revealed that he was on parenting duty that evening. “My husband is in charge of the kids tonight. He usually holds down the fort while I’m doing things like this,” she explained. She even gave a heartfelt shoutout to her three boys at home, indicating they were watching her from there. How sweet!
Significantly, the 2023 award ceremony was likely less accessible for the former hockey star than in previous years. Historically, the CMT Awards were held in Nashville, the heart of country music, close to Franklin—a suburb of Nashville where Underwood and Fisher make their home. However, in November 2022, it was announced that the awards would be moving to Texas, posing a greater logistical challenge for attendance.
Despite being away from her sons, Underwood fully embraced her time in Texas, dazzling in a rhinestone two-piece that assured her a spot on all the Best Dressed lists.
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, while public figures, make a concerted effort to keep their two children, Isaiah and Jacob, out of the spotlight. Last year, when the “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer went on tour, she and Fisher decided against bringing the kids along to maintain their normal routine.
“This time, they are not coming with me,” Underwood shared with ET Canada. “My oldest is in school, and we’re really prioritizing that. We want their lives to be as normal as possible.”
Underwood also praised Fisher for being a hands-on dad, which allows her to focus fully on her career. “I’m really blessed. I have to give my husband some credit here,” she said. “He’s got everything covered. When I’m away, I never have to worry about lunches not being packed or laundry piling up.”
This aligns with Fisher’s long-held dream of becoming a parent. Before his child Isaiah was born in 2015, he expressed his anticipation to The Tennessean, emphasizing the unique joy of parenthood. “Many people mention that it’s indescribable until you experience it, and then it becomes the most wonderful thing,” he explained. “I’m focused on being the best father possible.”
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher may appear to be model parents now, but this was not always true. Underwood initially doubted her ability to be a good mother, although Fisher has always wished to be a devoted parent.
“I’ve never been excellent with other people’s children. “Why would I be good with one of my own?” the country singer explained in the “Mike and Carrie: God & Country” documentary “docuseries, adding that raising a family wasn’t even on her list of priorities at first.
She revealed, “I never really considered getting married or starting a family. I’ve always been independent.” In contrast, Fisher had always envisioned a different life for himself.
“Growing up with three siblings and wonderful parents, I always knew I wanted a family like that,” he said. “I aspired to be a great father like mine, to find a partner like my mother, and to raise children in the country.”
Everything eventually fell into place for Underwood and Fisher, who now reside in the country with their two children. The birth of Isaiah profoundly altered Underwood’s view on parenting. “It has completely transformed me. I’m generally happier and in a better mood,” she shared with Redbook Magazine. “I’m absolutely in love!”
