Dolly Parton Contributes $2M to Hurricane Helene Relief: $1M from Her Own Pocket and $1M from Her Businesses

Hurricane Helene has left a devastating path of destruction across North Carolina, South Carolina, eastern Tennessee, and Georgia. FOX Weather reports that the catastrophic flooding has claimed at least 230 lives across six states, with the death toll likely to rise as search and rescue operations continue. Hundreds of people are still missing, and many communities remain without power or access to basic necessities.

In response to the tragedy, several country music stars, including Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, and Luke Combs, have rallied to provide support in various ways. Now, the queen of country herself, Dolly Parton, is stepping up in a major way to contribute to the relief efforts.

Dolly Parton’s Generous Donation

At a press conference held at Walmart in Newport, Tennessee, on Friday (October 4), Dolly Parton revealed her significant contribution to the ongoing relief efforts, offering much-needed support to those affected by the disaster.

“I’m happy to be here,” Dolly Parton said as she stepped onto the stage. “I know a lot of you have been wondering where I’ve been. People keep asking, ‘Where’s Dolly?’ Well, like everyone else, I’ve been trying to take in everything that’s happening and figure out the best way to help.”

The country music legend then announced her donation—$1 million from her personal funds, along with another $1 million from her business ventures, including Dollywood.

“I truly wish we were gathered here under different circumstances, but we’ve all seen the devastation,” she continued. “Who would have thought that in this little corner of the world, right where I was born and raised, we’d be facing this kind of destruction?”

Parton reflected on how her own community in Sevier County, Tennessee, was devastated by wildfires a few years ago. She recalled the overwhelming support they received during that difficult time and expressed her deep desire to pay it forward now that others are facing a similar crisis.

While she hasn’t yet announced specific organizations that will receive the funds, Parton assured the crowd that the money will go to the right people and places.

“I just want you to know that I am with you, because I am part of you. I love you… and I’m just happy to be here to help in any way I can,” she said, concluding her heartfelt speech.
