Carrie Underwood Honors Alan Jackson with Special Tribute at Grand Ole Opry’s 100th Anniversary

The Grand Ole Opry has always been the heart and soul of country music—and on Wednesday night, Nashville lit up in honor of its 100th anniversary. Opry 100: A Live Celebration brought together more than 40 artists for an unforgettable evening paying tribute to the genre’s rich history and bright future. One of the standout moments of the night? A heartfelt, show-stopping moment shared between Carrie Underwood and country icon Alan Jackson.

Carrie Underwood’s Tribute to Alan Jackson

As Alan Jackson took the stage to perform his 90s hit “Chattahoochee”, the crowd erupted in excitement. Despite turning 66 last October, Jackson proved that he’s still got it, commanding the stage with his signature energy. The Opry was packed with fans, fellow artists, and country stars, all reliving the golden era of country music.

One of the standout moments came when the cameras panned to Carrie Underwood, who was fully immersed in the performance, dancing and singing along. In a touching moment, Underwood flashed a special guitar pick and proudly declared, “That’s Alan Jackson.” Fans online couldn’t get enough of the interaction, with one commenting, “Wow, sent me back to high school with that performance! Amazingly talented, wish he would put out another album.” Another wrote, “Love him!!! He is one of the best!!!! I have seen him in 3 concerts. He’s a legend!!”

Honoring Randy Travis

Underwood’s tributes didn’t stop there. Later in the evening, she took the stage to honor the legendary Randy Travis. Reflecting on the first time she heard Travis sing, she shared, “From the first time I heard him sing, his traditional country voice and those songs, I was hooked. And I knew my sister was not getting her tape back.”

With Travis being the one who invited Underwood to perform at the Opry in 2008, it was only fitting that she paid homage to his incredible career. Taking the audience on an emotional journey, she covered “Three Wooden Crosses” and “Forever and Ever, Amen”. The most heartwarming moment came when Travis himself joined in, singing the final “Amen” alongside her.

A Night of Country Music History

The Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary was more than just a celebration—it was a tribute to the voices that shaped country music. With performances from some of the biggest names in the genre, it was a night that fans will never forget. From Carrie Underwood’s heartfelt tributes to the legendary performances, the event proved that country music’s legacy is alive and well.
