Miranda Lambert’s Fiery ACM Performance: Shocking Lyric Change Sends Clear Message to Blake Shelton!

With the ACM Awards just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to revisit one of the most unforgettable moments in recent ACM history—Miranda Lambert’s not-so-subtle dig at Blake Shelton.

During her show-stopping medley, which featured fan-favorites like “Kerosene” and “Gunpowder and Lead,” Miranda stunned viewers when she tweaked a line in “Little Red Wagon.” Traditionally sung as, “I live in Oklahoma,” she switched it to:

“I got the hell out of Oklahoma.”

An obvious jab at her ex-husband and Oklahoma native, Blake Shelton, the lyric change left everyone in the audience gasping—and, let’s be honest, wishing the cameras had cut to Blake’s reaction in real time.

Granted, Miranda had been performing the altered lyric for a while, but this marked the first time she did so in the same room as Blake. We can only imagine how much extra emphasis she put on that line knowing he was present.

Still, it makes sense for her to change up that lyric now—after all, she no longer lives in Oklahoma. Yet, seeing it delivered with an extra dash of fire during the ACMs made for pure entertainment gold.

Of course, things aren’t entirely bitter between them. Miranda once opened up about “Over You,” the song she co-wrote with Blake in memory of his late brother. She described it as a “really special moment” and expressed her gratitude for how it helped his family heal:

“It was really a special moment and I’m so glad we shared that song and that it helped his family heal, to have that together.”

Even so, when it comes to that now-infamous “Little Red Wagon” line, Miranda certainly reminded everyone why she’s a force to be reckoned with on country music’s biggest stages.
