Mariska Hargitay Halts ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Filming to Assist Lost Child

Mariska Hargitay, known for her role as a police officer on TV for the past 25 years, recently found herself in a real-life rescue scenario when a lost child mistook her for an actual officer.

The actress and mother of three stopped filming for about 20 minutes to assist the child in finding their mother.

A witness reported to People that on April 10, a young girl became separated from her mother at the Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park.

Unaware of Hargitay’s scene partner, Ice-T, and the surrounding film crew, the girl approached Hargitay and asked for help.

Hargitay has played Olivia Benson on Law and Order: SVU since the series premiere in 1999. The show is currently in its 25th season.

It looks like all those years of playing a police officer on TV paid off! Thanks to Mariska for helping the young girl find her mother.
