‘Golden Bachelor’ Newlyweds Make a Surprise Announcement Just Three Months After Saying ‘I Do’

Gerry Turner, 74, and Theresa Nist, 70, have chosen to part ways.

The pair, who found love during the first season of The Golden Bachelor, announced their decision during an interview with Juju Chang on Good Morning America on Friday.

“Theresa and I have engaged in several heartfelt discussions, carefully examining our circumstances, including our living situation, and we’ve mutually agreed that it’s time for us to end our marriage,” Turner explained to Chang.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with love and support from numerous fans of ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and it’s incredible how many people have told us that our story gave them hope,” Nist added. “We hope that continues for everyone, despite our decision.”

Turner popped the question to Nist in the season 1 finale of “The Golden Bachelor,” and the pair tied the knot in a lavish ceremony earlier this year.

Initially, Turner and Nist declared their full commitment to each other, which required one of them to relocate since Turner resides in Indiana and Nist in New Jersey. However, they later realized their deep commitments to their respective families were a barrier.

“We explored homes in South Carolina and New Jersey, and toured numerous properties, but we never reached a decision,” Turner explained.

“The most striking aspect of our conversations has been our dedication to our families,” Turner noted. “After reflecting on these discussions, we both believe that for our individual happiness, it’s best to live apart.”

Although Turner and Nist are going their separate ways, they intend to cherish the memories they made together.

“I still love her. There’s no doubt about it, I’m still in love with her. I root for her every day,” Turner stated.

“I still love him,” Nist echoed.
