“Blake Shelton Drives Himself to Texas to Sing ‘Texas’ at 2025 ACMs – Now That’s Country!”

Blake Shelton did what any country boy would do — jumped in his truck, braved a Texas storm, and hit the road with one mission: to perform his latest No. 1 hit, “Texas,” live at the 60th ACM Awards. And when he took the stage at the Ford Center in Frisco, the crowd exploded. Boots stomped, hearts pounded—and even his ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, couldn’t resist getting up and dancing.

Though Blake proudly wears his Oklahoma roots, it’s Texas that’s been showing him serious love lately. His upbeat anthem “Texas” just became his 30th No. 1 single, leading the way for his upcoming album, For Recreational Use Only, which drops this Friday, May 9.

“It was like, wow—I’m literally driving to Texas to sing ‘Texas’ at the ACM Awards,” Blake told Country Now, recalling the moment he crossed state lines through pouring rain to reach the venue. “That’s pretty cool.”

This return to the spotlight marks a big moment for Shelton. After a four-year break from releasing albums and stepping away from The Voice, he’s diving headfirst back into his music career. And “Texas” couldn’t have come at a better time—his first single under his new label deal with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville and Wheelhouse Records, and already being hailed as a spiritual successor to his 2019 hit “God’s Country.”

“Honestly, I was starting to think, maybe that was it,” Blake admitted, reflecting on his recent chart climb. “But this song… it brought me back.”

And brought him back, it did—with a performance that reminded everyone why Blake Shelton is still one of country’s most electrifying entertainers.
