Jason Aldean’s New Song “Help You Remember” Is a Heartfelt Tribute to His Father-in-Law With Dementia

Country superstar Jason Aldean is getting deeply personal with his latest music, especially in his moving new track, “Help You Remember,” a heartfelt tribute to his father-in-law who is battling dementia.

On Friday, November 7, Aldean officially announced his upcoming album, Songs About Us, slated for release in April. The 20-track project promises to take listeners on a journey through life’s highs, lows, and everything in between. Among its standout features is Aldean’s first-ever duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean, making this album a family affair in more ways than one.

A Personal Story Turned Into Song

One of the most emotional moments on the album comes from Help You Remember, a song that sheds light on Brittany’s father’s dementia diagnosis—a journey the couple has been navigating together.

Our journey with dementia.  The heartache that diseases like this bring to a family is something we know all too well. We hope this song brings comfort to anyone going through something similar,” Brittany shared in a heartfelt social media post accompanying the song’s release.

The post included a touching video montage, weaving together moments from her childhood with her dad through to present-day memories—each frame capturing the enduring love between a daughter and her father.

Lyrics That Speak From the Heart

Aldean’s lyrics offer an intimate look at the day-to-day reality of loving someone with dementia:

“The heart knows what’s hiding / Even when the mind can’t find it / Even if you don’t, I still ain’t gonna stop tryin’, yeah / To help you remember / What I’ll never forget”

Through these lines, Aldean captures both the emotional toll and the unwavering devotion families show as they face such a challenging illness.

“Songs About Us”: Real Stories, Real Emotions

The album, which also features tracks like “Hard To Love You” and “Lovin’ Me Too Long,” aims to reflect on life’s full emotional spectrum. As Aldean explained:

“It means the world when one of my songs helps someone through a hard time—or celebrates their best moments. This album is about all of that—the highs, the lows, and everything in between… In the end, I realized this album is about all of us. These are songs about us.”

As the release of Songs About Us approaches, it’s clear that this album is more than just music—it’s a reflection of real life, and a reminder of the power of love, even when memories begin to fade.
