Country’s Hottest Cowboy Riley Green Opens Up About His Most Romantic Gesture Yet And Reveals What He Finds Irresistibly Sexy in a Woman

Riley Green may have country music fans swooning, but when it comes to romance, the singer admits that even his best efforts haven’t always gone according to plan.

In a new interview with People, released Friday, October 30, the country star was featured in the magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive 2026” coverage. Although the official title went to The Pitt star Noah Wyle, Green certainly gave fans something to talk about when he opened up about his love life, his hopes for a family, and one romantic surprise that didn’t quite work out.

And his Valentine’s Day story might be one of the most unexpected things fans have heard from him.

Riley Green Once Planned an Elaborate Valentine’s Day Surprise

Green revealed that he once went all out trying to create a romantic evening for someone special.

His plan involved an old-fashioned white canvas army-style tent, a beautiful location on his farm overlooking a lake, a campfire, and string lights. It sounded like the perfect setting for a memorable Valentine’s Day.

There was just one problem: he had to prepare everything while the woman was still there.

“I had to do [the prep] while the girl was there,” Green explained. “So I was constantly like, ‘Let me go check on the animals,’ and I’d run up there and put one pole up.”

He described the whole thing as “a little surprise thing,” adding that he thought it was pretty romantic.

But when asked how it turned out, Green delivered the honest answer that made the story even better.

“I thought that was pretty romantic. I don’t know how she felt about it.”

Then, with a laugh, he admitted:

“… It didn’t go that well. I mean, here we are.”

Apparently, even a beautiful lakeside setting, a campfire, and a little country-boy creativity aren’t guaranteed to win someone’s heart.

He Wants a Family Someday, But His Career Makes Dating Difficult

Behind the humor, Green also shared a much more personal side of himself.

When People asked whether he hoped to have children someday, the singer didn’t hesitate to say yes. In fact, he connected that dream to the special relationship he already has with his nephew, Joe.

“If I like my son near as much as I like my nephew, Joe, I think we’ll get along great,” he said.

It’s clear that family means a great deal to him. But his demanding career has made it difficult to build the kind of personal life he hopes to have.

Green explained that he spends more than 200 days a year away from home because of work. He even revealed that he hadn’t seen his dog, Carl, in a month.

He also admitted that sometimes he struggles to imagine how a relationship could fit into such a busy lifestyle.

“I struggle to think there’s a girl that’s… I can barely make this lifestyle work!”

It’s an honest admission from an artist whose schedule keeps him constantly on the road.

Riley Green Knows Something Has to Change

Despite the challenges, Green hasn’t given up on the idea of finding love and eventually building a family.

He acknowledged that his lifestyle may need to change if he wants to make room for those things.

“So my lifestyle has just got to change a little bit,” he explained.

For now, staying connected with his family helps make the long stretches away from home easier.

“I think that what gets me by now, without having those things that I’m hoping for, is I get to FaceTime my nephew and see what he’s doing and watch him play sports and catch up with my family,” Green said.

“We’re all still really close. They make it bearable in a pretty hectic lifestyle right now.”

It’s a reminder that behind the sold-out shows, touring schedule, and country music success, there’s someone who still misses home and wants the simple things many people hope to have: time with family, a loving relationship, and a place to settle down.

His Perfect Date Is Surprisingly Old-School

So what would an ideal date with Riley Green actually look like?

Forget extravagant restaurants and expensive vacations. His answer was much more laid-back.

“I’m a big movie guy,” he revealed.

Green said he would love to find a drive-in movie theater, enjoy a steak dinner, and watch an old movie together.

And if that movie happens to be a romantic comedy, he might be more interested than fans expect.

He admitted that he can handle rom-coms, crediting his sisters for introducing him to the genre. Some of his favorites include How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Wedding Planner, The Wedding Date, and My Best Friend’s Wedding.

That might be a side of the country singer his fans didn’t expect to hear about.

What Does Riley Green Find Attractive in a Woman?

When it comes to the qualities he looks for in someone, Green’s answer wasn’t about appearance or fame.

He said he finds it attractive when a woman is passionate about something in her own life.

“I think there’s something attractive about somebody that has a thing that they like and they’re passionate about it,” he explained. “And to me, it’s interesting to hear about those things from somebody else.”

For Green, genuine passion and having something meaningful to care about seem to matter far more than putting on a perfect impression.

And perhaps that’s the biggest takeaway from his interview.

Riley Green may be one of country music’s most talked-about heartthrobs, but his comments reveal someone who wants more than attention. He wants a meaningful relationship, a family of his own, and eventually a lifestyle that gives him more time for the people he loves.

For now, the road keeps calling. But judging by this interview, settling down someday is still very much part of the picture.

And who knows? Maybe his next Valentine’s Day surprise will have a happier ending.
