KELLY CLARKSON CALLS OUT BROOKLYN STORE AFTER CLAIMING SHE WAS TREATED LIKE JULIA ROBERTS IN ‘PRETTY WOMAN’ “YOU’RE AN IDIOT!”
Kelly Clarkson thought she had found a cool new store worth visiting in Brooklyn. Instead, the singer says her shopping trip left her feeling judged — and she took to social media to make her frustration known.

The American Idol winner called out a Brooklyn shop named Art of Play after what she described as an insulting experience during a recent visit. And the comparison she made immediately brought back memories of one of Hollywood’s most iconic movie scenes.
“You’re an Idiot And Just Lost A Huge Sale”
In a post on X, Clarkson explained that she had driven all the way to Brooklyn because she was excited to check out the store and had several things in mind that she wanted to buy.
But according to the singer, the interaction took an unexpected turn.
She claimed she was treated as though she couldn’t afford the items she wanted and was told the employee could find something comparable for her instead.
Clarkson didn’t hide her disappointment.
“Wow, dude,” she wrote before adding, “You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.”
She ended her post with a sarcastic recommendation for anyone who enjoys being treated like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman — complete with a thumbs-down emoji.
The store declined to comment when contacted by Page Six.

Why Everyone Is Bringing Up ‘Pretty Woman’
Clarkson’s comparison instantly reminded fans of the famous 1990 romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
In the movie, Roberts plays Vivian Ward, who is humiliated when a snobbish saleswoman refuses to help her because of how she is dressed.
Later, Vivian returns to the store after shopping elsewhere and confronts the employee with the unforgettable line: “Big mistake. Big. Huge.”
The scene became one of the film’s most memorable moments, turning a humiliating experience into a satisfying comeback.
Clarkson’s story struck a similar nerve with fans, who quickly understood why she referenced the movie.
Fans React To Kelly’s Shopping Experience
Clarkson’s followers flooded the replies with reactions, many expressing disbelief that someone would make assumptions about a customer before understanding what they wanted to buy.
Some joked that the employee had no idea who was standing in front of them, while others suggested the store had missed out on a major sale.
The incident also prompted some people to leave negative reviews on the store’s Google listing. Those reactions reflect online users’ responses to Clarkson’s account, rather than independent confirmation of what happened inside the shop.
Art of Play describes itself as a destination for distinctive home goods, puzzles, games, toys and books. The Brooklyn location also features a small theater for close-up magic performances.
For now, the store has not publicly commented on Clarkson’s account.
A ‘Pretty Woman’ Moment In Real Life?
Clarkson’s story has resonated because many shoppers know how uncomfortable it feels to be judged by appearances. Her post also revived a movie scene that remains famous decades after its release.
Whether the store’s version of the encounter would differ is unknown, but Clarkson made her own feelings unmistakably clear.
One shopping trip, one unexpected interaction, and a Pretty Woman comparison that fans immediately recognized. For Kelly Clarkson, the experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
