Dolly Parton’s Niece Made Parton Family History Then Her Incredible Life Took Her Into the Skies

Most people who hear the name Dolly Parton immediately think of music, songwriting and one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world.

But Dolly’s family has another remarkable story that deserves to be told.

Danielle Parton, the daughter of Dolly’s brother Bobby, has built a life that sounds almost too incredible to be true — serving in the military, flying massive aircraft, becoming a commercial pilot and even creating her own moonshine business.

And yes, she also created a drink inspired by her famous aunt.

She Was the First Woman in Her Family to Finish College

Danielle became the first woman in the Parton family to graduate from college, earning a degree in business administration from Belmont University in 1998.

But finishing college was only the beginning.

She went on to work as a flight attendant, but Danielle wanted to do more.

So she learned how to fly.

That decision eventually led her into the Air National Guard, where she flew military aircraft, including the C-130 and C-5, and served overseas.

Her military career included assignments with the 118th Wing in Nashville and the 123rd in Louisville.

After years of service, Danielle retired from the Guard last year — and her famous aunt was there to witness the milestone.

Today, Danielle continues to fly, working as a pilot for American Airlines.

Then Came the Moonshine

Flying wasn’t the only thing Danielle inherited from her family.

She also discovered an entrepreneurial side that apparently runs deep in the Parton bloodline.

The idea for her distillery came after she drove past a billboard advertising Ole Smoky moonshine.

She looked at it and essentially thought: I could do that.

And perhaps there was something fitting about the idea.

Danielle has talked about how making moonshine is part of her family history. Her grandfather, whom she called her Papaw, made moonshine to help provide for the family.

She jokingly recalled that her grandmother wasn’t exactly thrilled that Papaw was the one doing the taste testing.

Danielle eventually launched her own brand, Shine Girl, and the first production run sold out.

She Even Created a Drink for Dolly

Of course, having Dolly Parton as your aunt comes with a certain level of inspiration.

Danielle created a drink specifically named after her.

It’s called the Dollymosa — a combination of rosé moonshine, orange juice and club soda.

It’s a fitting tribute to an aunt whose name has become synonymous with Tennessee, music and a little bit of sparkle.

But beyond the business ventures and the incredible career, Danielle’s connection to Dolly is deeply personal.

“The World Will Never Be the Same”

When Dolly passed away, Danielle shared just how much her aunt meant to her.

In a video posted during that heartbreaking week, she expressed the feeling that so many Dolly fans around the world were experiencing.

“The world will never be the same without Dolly Parton in it.”

Those words say something about Dolly’s impact — but they also reveal the loss from the perspective of someone who knew her not just as a global superstar, but as family.

Danielle Parton’s story is remarkable all on its own.

She became a college graduate, a military pilot, an overseas service member, a commercial airline pilot and an entrepreneur.

And along the way, she carried the Parton family spirit with her.

A woman who learned to fly, served her country, built a business and created a drink in honor of her famous aunt.

Dolly may have been the household name, but Danielle Parton has certainly created an extraordinary story of her own
