The beloved Mary Poppins star revealed that flames were rapidly moving over the hills near California’s Serra Retreat neighborhood, forcing him and his wife, Arlene, to evacuate immediately. Security footage captured the dramatic evacuation as Van Dyke, soaked from the chaos surrounding him, escaped alongside his wife and pets. During the confusion, one of their animals, Bobo, ran off, leading Van Dyke to ask fans for prayers and support through social media.
“Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo, who escaped as we were leaving,” he wrote. “We’re praying he’ll be okay and that our community survives these terrible fires.”
The wildfire, which spread rapidly across thousands of acres near Malibu, forced mass evacuations and threatened countless homes across the region. Several celebrities living nearby were also forced to flee as firefighters battled the dangerous blaze.
